A new word learnt today, by accident that is. I was discussing with one of my bosses about his boxes of papers / rubbish that he dumped into another workstation the last time he moved office. I am to call our admin dept to get it cleared out for a new guy who is coming in next week. So, this boss was telling me "All this packing is rather cathartic". My reply was "Yeah, I can tell." With those 4 magic words, I managed to impressed him. He thought I actually know the meaning of cathartic. In fact, he said, he believes I'm the only secretary / admin staff who knows the meaning, even some "Sr Manager" do not know there is such a word.

Seriously, I don't. But I can gauge what it meant by the conversation we were having. I thought it meant either messy or tiring. So, because I do not want to look stupid now, as I'm suppose to know what it meant, I went on a quest to look it up. As my little Oxford dictionary words are limited, I went to Kinokuniya during lunch to get a peep of the word in other bigger and more powerful dictionary. Alas, I could not find it. Perhaps because I do not know the correct spelling. I should have trusted the internet to find the word right, because when I went back to my workstation, I found it at Dictionary.com .
So people, today you have learnt a new word. Please use it wisely! *wink*
